Condemnation by the Quakers

I'd like to go more in detail about Galton being condemned by his religion for manufacturing weapons and being a part of the slave trade. Sentence from current article (November 2019) reads: "Despite being a Quaker he was an arms manufacturer."

But... but... but that's the sort of thing that Quakers do do. Why so surprised? They're not all chocolate makers, btw.
