Audio call capabilities
editThe official website clearly shows a "Phone" icon on the top left of the home screen yet the article doesn't clearly state that this device is capable of traditional audio only calls. Some reviews of the phone [1] mention the phone capabilities so I was wondering if it is worthwhile clarifying this in the article? --Jonathan Ellis (talk) 13:53, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
The North American variant of the Galaxy Tab is not capable of voice calling (except for VoIP). Other variants can to tradition GSM voice calling. Ryan31S (talk) 23:39, 13 February 2011 (UTC)
That is my understanding too (that the N.A. variants don't support voice) and it results in some strange behaviors - the voice capabilities seem to have been rather crudely removed. I think this should be added to the main page, but I'm not sure where: I would guess that this is a software issue but I'm not positive. If it is a software issue then 3rd party firmwares will presumably resurrect the voice capability.Qwavel (talk) 15:21, 18 February 2011 (UTC)
- I don't know of the American version, but in Europe it works on GSM networks and is distributed by GSM service providers. And of course, Samsung markets it as a phone. I'm not sure how the product description should be, but I'm going to change it in the article to "phone and tablet" until someone thinks of a better one. --Arny (talk) 11:16, 19 April 2011 (UTC)
- Confirmed that the inability of the North American variants of the Galaxy Tab to make voice calls is a software related issue. Is a link to a [homebrew developer forum] acceptable under wikipedia standards?
Correction
editThe article says the device should last 1000 hours of talk time. That surely can't be possible. Please correct. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.85.163.140 (talk) 14:18, 16 September 2010 (UTC)
Pricing
editThere has been no confirmed pricing from either Samsung or mobile networks. Numerous news sites have claimed to know the pricing, but without an official price point even places like amazon and expansys are guessing at what the price will be.
It's irresponsible to report that as if it is fact. It is in fact rumours and speculation. I'm going to go edit the price entries to reflect this. —Preceding unsigned comment added by LostAlone (talk • contribs) 06:04, 30 September 2010 (UTC)
Models / Model numbers
editWould it be worthwhile to keep track of the various models that are out there? Numbers I've found so far are: GT-P1000MSAXEU (UK), GT-P1000MSAXEN (Belgium, Netherlands), GT-P1000CWASMO (Italy), and GT-P1000CWADBT (Germany). 82.73.234.138 (talk) 02:05, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
PDMI?
editSomeone on the Discussion page of PDMI denies that the SGT uses PDMI... and Samsung's page doesn't say anything. What's the truth? ---Ransom (--67.91.216.67 (talk) 23:55, 3 February 2011 (UTC))
Apple is not using PDMI.
"...One exception has been the group's work on the Portable Digital Media Interface (PDMI, CEA-2017), a 30-pin connector for media players that aims to be an alternative to the iPod interface defined by Apple Inc...." http://www.eetimes.com/electronics-news/4077834/CEA-may-spawn-standards-effort-for-handhelds
No longer accurate
editI am just about to recieve one of these. The tech specs are different than that which is stated as the intro to the page. I've never edited a page that is so big, just small stub articles. Can someone please forward me to the policy page on making edits or something cos I don't want to get in trouble lol
btw I'll come back and sign this in a second, Just realised that I'm not logged in. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.172.245.227 (talk) 12:50, 15 January 2012 (UTC)
Model comparison
editThe table at Samsung_Galaxy_Tab_7.7#Model comparison has pertinent information regarding the different specifications of the the different models manufactured by Samsung that carry the 'Galaxy Tab' name (including the original model which this article focuses on).. I am not an editor and am loathe to make any changes to this article without having read the guidelines. If appropriate, can someone either paste or link to that table? 69.174.87.60 (talk) 17:26, 1 May 2012 (UTC)
Aspect ratio 16:10?
editThe infobox correctly lists the resolution as 1024x600, but states the aspect ratio as 16:10, which is incorrect. The correct aspect ratio is 128:75 or 1.706. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.207.251.130 (talk) 04:34, 7 February 2013 (UTC)
