2017 Rumors of Possible Removal edit
It appears that last year, there were rumors about this statue of Sam Houston in Hermann Park, Houston, Texas possibly being removed according to KTRK-TV ABC 13.[1] "After we have this one removed, we can then work on getting the 67-foot Sam Houston statue outside of Huntsville turned into parking lot gravel, and the forest renamed."[2]
I got this information from the Monument and memorial controversies in the United States article. I'm not even sure why some people want this statue to be removed, it's not hurting anyone and it isn't offensive. I just think idiotic people just want to erase and ruin history. I would have added this to the article myself, but I don't know who said "After we have this one removed, we can then work on getting the 67-foot Sam Houston statue outside of Huntsville turned into parking lot gravel, and the forest renamed." I guess it was one of the protesters.

- According to the Click2Houston source, the quote came from a series of social media posts by Texas Antifa which sparked a small protest. This seems like the typical back-and-forth between political opponents and I'm not sure if it even belongs in Monument and Memorial Controversies. –dlthewave ☎ 18:53, 14 January 2018 (UTC)

- Thanks for info, Dlthewave and Carptrash! I knew it looked a little fishy being on the article. If the information about the Sam Houston statue doesn't belong on this article, should it be removed completely?
