The Story of Town Where Cherry Blossoms BloomSakura Saku Machi Monogatari — This pages was recently moved from Sakura Saku Machi Monogatari due to the album cover having the words "The story of town where cherry blossoms bloom" on it, seeming to imply that that is what the album title is. However, no English language source uses "The Story of Town Where Cherry Blossoms Bloom" over "Sakura Saku Machi Monogatari". Most websites use "Sakura Saku Machi Monogatari" only, while some also display "The story of town where cherry blossoms bloom" in parentheses, or similar formatting. According to WP:ALBUM, an article should use the common name in English of an album, regardless of what language it is in. The only requirement is that the album title should use the Latin alphabet. WP:COMMONNAME suggests we do a search engine search online to see which name has the most results. "Sakura Saku Machi Monogatari" has about 21,000 results, while "The Story of Town Where Cherry Blossoms Bloom" has a mere 110 and "The Story of the Town Where Cherry Blossoms Bloom" has 126. • Per WP:ALBUM#Naming, "Translations of titles in languages other than English should not be used as titles unless such a translation is commonly used as a title for the album in the English-speaking world." I believe your research clearly shows that the exception condition is not fulfilled; hence I would say that the Japanese title transliterated into the Latin alphabet (so Sakura Saku Machi Monogatari) should be the name of the article. – IbLeo(talk) 08:19, 17 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
