_(town)?

edit

Is there some reason not to move this to Rumford, Maine, which is currently a redirect? I notice GNIS has both Rumford (Class: Populated Place), and Town of Rumford (Class: Civil). What's the difference, and which is the one to use?

I think the "(town)" qualifier was originally used to distinguish it from Rumford (CDP), Maine. Being a statistical construct, the CDP usage of the name is secondary to its usage to refer to the entire town. This is especially true in New England. --Polaron | Talk 03:39, 7 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
I've just initiated a move request for the remaining "(town)" articles in Maine.--Ken Gallager (talk) 15:41, 11 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
