Capitalization edit

@JesseRafe: I am not so sure that it is correct to convert this article to Title Case. The French (and general European-language) custom is to use sentence case in titles of works. This is supported by the WP:NCCAPS guideline, although Wikipedia:Manual of Style/France and French-related says "modern usage varies" and doesn't specify a standard. This standard is generally followed for topics related to Renaud, so the recent page move violates WP:CONSISTENCY. Either move this page back or obtain WP:CONSENSUS to consistently move everything over (which I would oppose). 2600:8800:1880:91E:5604:A6FF:FE38:4B26 (talk) 16:31, 31 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

The article itself was using capitals, except in the infobox, so this move in effect did make it consistent. JesseRafe (talk) 16:42, 31 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
What is easier, to fix the article, or to fix all the other articles by making page moves? 2600:8800:1880:91E:5604:A6FF:FE38:4B26 (talk) 17:31, 31 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
I see that what you just said is not true and that you actually changed a few lowercase instances in the article itself. So you're working actively and knowingly to increase inconsistency and covering up for it. 2600:8800:1880:91E:5604:A6FF:FE38:4B26 (talk) 17:40, 31 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
Please don't make deliberately false statements, it makes it hard for others to take your seriously. As plainly stated every instance except for the infobox and one sentence used lowercase, the others, including the 5th letter of the article, were capital Ss. It's consistent and accurate now, if you cared so much you would made all the iterations of the capital S lowercase previously. But you're instead just trying to start drama with easily proven false claims and insinuations? JesseRafe (talk) 18:04, 31 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
I regret and retract my incivil remark. I apologize for making this a drama when it doesn't have to be. 2600:8800:1880:91E:5604:A6FF:FE38:4B26 (talk) 19:01, 31 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Requested move 31 May 2018 edit

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: not moved per unanimous consensus. We have determined that "Sang" (French for "Blood") is used here as a proper noun, and should be capitalized even in sentence case. Rouge SangRouge sang – per WP:NCCAPS no consensus for move. 2600:8800:1880:91E:5604:A6FF:FE38:4B26 (talk) 17:33, 31 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Oppose As mover, in French it's a capital S on their WP: fr:Rouge Sang (album), where it has been since 2006. It's also capitalized thusly, in both languages, on Amazon, Discogs, YouTube, Allmusic, etc. JesseRafe (talk) 18:22, 31 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
So I see that it is --sometimes-- (usually?) capitalized even with sentence-case formatting. This is an important factor. My French is bad, so I cannot understand why "blood red" would consist of proper nouns. Is he making some kind of cultural reference (Blood of Christ?) If we can determine that "Blood" is indeed intended to be a proper noun then I would retract my move request and consent to the capitalization as it currently stands. 2600:8800:1880:91E:5604:A6FF:FE38:4B26 (talk) 19:03, 31 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
I don't think we have to dig that deep. It's superficially used with a capital S in every instance on that page, including within the same sentence as mention of other albums which confirm to the capitalization scheme you suggest is standard. For instance, his previous album Boucan d'enfer is lowercase and that lowercase word could much more plausibly be capitalized as a proper noun (enfer meaning Hell) on its face, than trying to interpret this Sang as being the Blood of Christ. But even the Renaud template and the Renaud article (an FR equivalent of a good article) itself uses a capital S over a dozen times. It's reasonable to assume that they have requirements and standards that include capitalization norms before designating anything an article de qualité. We don't need to know the rationale for grammatical distinctions, but just neutrally report the world as it exists, and this album exists as Rouge Sang. JesseRafe (talk) 19:17, 31 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • OK, that was embarrassing. I detest the confusion of those spellings and I thought I had been meticulous in typing it out. Thanks for catching it.
  • Now, as I understand it we are three editors in unanimous WP:CONSENSUS opposing the move. I shall therefore close the discussion forthwith as resolved. 2600:8800:1880:91E:5604:A6FF:FE38:4B26 (talk) 12:08, 1 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
