Talk:Rory Atwell

Merge? edit

I turned this into a redirect to Test Icicles because there was very little here. It was reverted on the grounds that he's involved in a number of other notable bands, but I see no evidence for this. All we've got is some other band with no article and no sources, and a rumor about another band. Unless and until we have enough info on this guy for a proper article, I see no reason for this to be seperate from the main band article. Friday (talk) 14:43, 30 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Well, it's not a rumor, the other band has been noted in Pitchfork and has an official Myspace at the last time I saw it. I'm strongly against any merge at this point. --badlydrawnjeff talk 14:54, 30 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
I know you're against any merges, but this doesn't count for much, since as you said you're against any merge. I don't see much reason to include one-sentence rumors like this. If it were me, I'd wait until we had actual articles on more than one band this guy's been in, and then consider splitting it out. Neither other band, nor this guy himself, has an AMG bio, for whatever that's worth. They're a decent barometer of whether a given group has gotten significance media coverage. I'm not against "any merges," I just find most merges to be unnecessary and unhelpful. This absolutely falls into that category - if people search for Rory Atwell, it's not because they're looking for information on Test Icicles. I also could have sworn that we had an article on his other band, but I was apparently wrong on that. Given the attention Test Icicles got before their demise, I expect that to change sooner rather than later. As for AMG not having an entry on Test Icicles, I'm surprised by that. Not so much Atwell solo or RAT:ATT:AGG. --badlydrawnjeff talk 15:34, 30 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
AMG does have an article on Test Icicles, sorry for not being clear. To me this is one indicator that his new projects are less significant that the Test Icicles. But on the other hand this is pretty far from a typical musician vanity page so I don't see much harm in it either. Friday (talk) 15:40, 30 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
Well, given that his other project hasn't released anything yet, I agree - it is currently less significant. I do expect that to change, given the buzz Test Icicles was getting before they imploded. If we were talking about redirecting RAT_ATT_AGG here until more info came along, I'd probably be on your side about it, for the record.

since this point rorys 'other project' RAT:ATT:AGG have played at the leeds festival in 2006 id say http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1x9EarQKcxk is proof enough of that fact, clearly that makes it atleast notable, so that makes 2 projects, clearly this isnt a case for a merger

Links edit
