Controversy
editThis section needs to be culled back and the rest of the article expanded. The biography is heavily weighted to one incident and does not reflect his overall career. - Shudde talk 13:30, 20 September 2013 (UTC)
- Do it, I added the controversy because it was 'making news' and the page view history demanded it. Poite is not a famous referee so thats why his article is quite small; could be expanded but honestly, there isn't much to write about in reference to rugby referees as most if anything that does get added to their articles are generally controversies..--Stemoc (talk) 15:06, 20 September 2013 (UTC)
- I tried to find some references about his career earlier this week. Obviously it's hard to find, but having the majority of prose dedicated to one incident smacks of a WP:BLP violation. Reading this you'd think his career stopped after the 2010 Six Nations, until he refereed a single Rugby Championship game three years later! I'm going to cull it back until we can find some more source on his career. Did he ref at the RWC2011? How many other RC/Tri-Nations matches has he refereed? Was he involved in the Lions this year? If any of this is true, they're notable aspects of his career that are missing. - Shudde talk 23:33, 20 September 2013 (UTC)
Expanding article
editAccording to WP:BLP:
- The idea expressed in WP:Eventualism – that every Wikipedia article is a work in progress, and that it is therefore okay for an article to be temporarily unbalanced because it will eventually be brought into shape – does not apply to biographies. Given their potential impact on biography subjects' lives, biographies must be fair to their subjects at all times.
So I've culled back and removed the title from the controversy section, but obviously the best way to fix this would be to expand other aspects of the biography. I've had a quick look at the fr:Romain Poite article and there are a few things that could be added. I'm hoping to find some sources. If anyone can find any can they add the information, or list the source here:
- He refereed at the 2011 Rugby World Cup
- The Heineken Cup
- Top 14
Anything else add it here. Please don't expand the "controversy" part of the article until other aspects of his career have been expanded in order to balance the article out. - Shudde talk 23:46, 20 September 2013 (UTC)
