What are "radical biologists"? Political radicals who study biology? Members of the Society for Free Radical Biology and Medicine? Removed the term until someone can explain what it means.11 Arlington (talk) 19:10, 28 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Sydney Push edit

The subject's association of herself with the Sydney Push in 1968 is a dubious claim. A search for verification has produced:

  • "She was sent to live with her father's twin sister in Brisbane; in 1968, aged 18, she hitched a ride to Sydney and there fell in with the fringe of the old Sydney Push. She relished the bohemian communal spirit, the camaraderie and, well, the drugs (LSD, in particular, was prized for revealing the 'malleability of the mind'). In the early 70s, she returned to Queensland;" (from a 2013 press interview)
  • I hopped on a truck and came to Sydney. And I lived, really, as a feral. And these days, I would be seen as a street urchin. But then, I thought of myself as an adventurer, an aristocrat. I learned how to look after myself and it was a very rich time. I ended up working in a gambling club, which was very thrilling and I found out that I was a great poker player. But after a while, it got a little bit heavy. It was run by criminals. I was quite close with one of them. It wasn't an easy situation. (2008 radio interview)

In fact, the demise of the Push began around 1964 when new ownership of The Royal George Hotel proved incompatible and the former back-room culture was invaded by hundreds of entertainment-seeking "alfs and daphnes", tourists, gays and LSD takers. These were generally avoided by the Push which, though pluralistically tolerant, was mostly hooked on beer and amphetamines, and firmly heterosexual. The new crowds would style themselves as "fringe members" but their various groups came to number in the thousands and brought about the Push's end as a distinct group in the 1970s. On that basis, Davidson's claims to association needs to be modified and properly verified. Bjenks (talk) 02:57, 7 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Bibliography edit

I have commenced a tidy-up of the Bibliography section. Capitalization and punctuation follow standard cataloguing rules in AACR2 and RDA, as much as Wikipedia templates allow it. ISBNs and other persistent identifiers, where available, are commented out, but still available for reference. This is a work in progress; feel free to continue.
