Middle initial in article name?

Is there a reason that this article is named "Richard E Thompson" rather than "Richard E. Thompson"? If no rationale is forthcoming, I am going to assume it was an error and just move it. KConWiki (talk) 18:36, 31 December 2011 (UTC)
