Rob Hudson MLA, born 9 December 1955, Melbourne, Victoria. Hudson is an Australian politician, and is a member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly for the ALP. He holds honours degrees in Social Work and Law. Hudson is married with four children and is a supporter of the Hawthorn Hawks. Hudson was elected to the Bentleigh electorate in the 2002 Victorian State Elections defeating incumbent Inga Peulich. He was re-elected in 2006. Prior to his election as the member for Bentleigh, he worked at the Brotherhood of St Laurence, and was the Director of the Victorian Council of Social Services. In 1993, he became Senior Advisor to the Deputy Prime Minister. He held this position for three years before becoming the CEO of WorkPlacement. From 1999, he held the position of Social Policy Director to the Premier.

Achievements for Bentleigh

Since holding the seat of Bentleigh in 2002, Hudson has secured numerous achievements such as securing funding for the rebuilding of schools. As Secretary for Transport and the Arts, he has improved public transport, including in his own electorate. Hudson helped campaign for $3 million to be committed for the construction of Bentleigh Ambulance Station and $3 million for improvements to be made to Monash Medical Centre. Many local environmental commitments were also undertaken, such as the opening of Karkarook Park. This went towards Hudson's aim of increasing parkland in the local area.

Achievements for the Wider Community

Under the Labor government, the public transport system of Melbourne has been greatly developed by the addition of new trains, trams and buses. Many local bus services, such as in Bentleigh, have extended operating hours.
