Tarfside is the principal village in Glen Esk. There is a tourist noticeboard in Tarfside carpark. The noticeboard claims that "Esk" is derived from the Gaelic for "rowan", but the usual word for "rowan" is caorann, and the Gaelic word "easg" means some sort of watercourse. 2A00:23C8:9E8A:FE01:3952:893:B670:3461 (talk) 17:14, 6 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
