I added the relevant sections from his published notebooks in the source section. Rita Marko described himself as a Communist and Albanian patriot of Vlach origins. He didn't describe himself as having another ethnic identity, nor does he describe his parents as non-Albanians because for Marko being of Aromanian origin didn't come into conflict with being Albanian. As such, he describes his father and his cousin as being part of the first Albanian emigrants in the USA (Për një kohë të gjatë, babai, Sterioja, me të nipin, Dhimitër Markon, kanë qenë emigrantë në SHBA.
