Vandiver Reference

I'm not sure that the Vandiver reference is entirely true. Vandiver's political career was actually more closely tied to Herman Talmadge. By the late 1940s, Russell had begun to back himself away from state politics and focus on the national level.

Can't find anything to directly verify, but here it says "[i]n 1952, [Vandiver] took a leave of absence from his post as director of the Selective Service of Georgia to assist in Senator Richard B. Russell’s 1952 presidential campaign." So he had some additional ties to Russell other than being an in-law.--Roswell native 01:24, 10 October 2006 (UTC)

Citations Needed

Senator Robert C. Byrd wrote biographies of key Senators, and still does. Comments in this stating "need citation" are supported through Senator Byrd written statements which found several places, including http://www.libs.uga.edu/russell/collections/russell/index.shtml —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.53.110.114 (talk) 20:22, 5 February 2009 (UTC)

finished second?

Russell wasn't even close in 1952. I think he had fewer delegates than in 1948. The 1952 convention was a battle between Kefauver and Stevenson. Just how did Russell 'finish second'? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ezra c v mildew desire Jr (talkcontribs) 05:18, 7 December 2012 (UTC)

Senate Career

Because this section cites Sen. Russell's disagreement with the conclusions of the Warren Report, perhaps a citation about his refusal to serve on the Commission is warranted. Russell despised Earl Warren & told LBJ that he wouldn't "sit at the same table" with Warren. LBJ basically ordered Russell to serve. 74.103.123.67 (talk) 21:01, 2 May 2015 (UTC)
