Times article

edit

This article by Anthony Loyd in The Times (22 February 2022) looks into some issues that the article should maybe touch on, namely some controversy about the real-life right-wing gang past of lead actor Serhii Filimonov (uk:Філімонов_Сергій_Федорович), and whether

the public acclaim and awards given to Filimonov for his Rhino role, with scarcely any reference to his previous history, have served to condone right-wing violence and inspire its followers.

According to Sensov

[Filimonov] had this animal power from his football hooliganism past. I need someone with the past of a predator -- and someone who had experienced a similar journey of change.

However according to an analyst of vigilante gangs and the far right

The issue of Filimonov and Honor (uk:Гонор (рух)) goes to the core of the way in which far-right organisations and individuals seek to make a hateful creed mainstream, either through MMA (mixed martial arts), sometimes heavy metal music, or in this case, a film that wins international awards.

The piece also includes some reflections from Filimonov himself

Might be worth a look, and covering in the article. Jheald (talk) 14:29, 8 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Agreed, this article should have a controversies section because of the presence of Filimonov in it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:8109:1A3F:C906:DE72:A0EA:34A4:5991 (talk) 11:03, 6 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
