Rexall/Sundown section edit

The first paragraph of this section reads like a pure attack, and it's totally unreferenced. I will remove it in a week if there is no improvement. Horologium (talk) 14:36, 10 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

  • Good question. I've added a tag at the top of the article to get readers to the right place. Ground Zero | t 22:21, 19 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Correction to photo caption edit

Drugstore is actually located in Rock Rapids Iowa as confirmed by this google street view. https://maps.google.com/maps?q=220+1st+Ave,+Rock+Rapids,+IA+51246&hl=en&ll=43.431855,-96.167707&spn=0.000031,0.014956&sll=43.432775,-96.16936&sspn=0.009599,0.014956&hnear=220+1st+Ave,+Rock+Rapids,+Iowa+51246&t=m&z=16&layer=c&cbll=43.431852,-96.168089&panoid=g_8Fu1W8jYyH8atBuDxymw&cbp=12,131.51,,0,-3.18 — Preceding unsigned comment added by TigerPaw2154 (talkcontribs) 21:52, 19 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Name origin edit

I'm very dubious as to the name origin claimed here -- "Rx" has been shorthand for a prescription for centuries -- so "Rx-all" would connote "fill all prescriptions" Clevelander96 (talk)

The origin is clearly laid out in the first source of the article, the text of the court case that came about due to claim of trademark infringement. I think the similarity was just a happy coincidence. Anastrophe (talk) 21:14, 10 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
that source (a court ruling) is not a reliable source as to where the words for the trademarks came from. the "facts" laid out in a civil suit are facts that are convenient for the plaintiff and similarly for the respondent. The court does not go out and verify the claims against the real world, it is up to the adversaries in an adversarial system to provide the counterfacts that they would like the court to addresss. Since both of these parties were claiming a trademark, for either of them to declare that their trademark came from the generic Rx/℞ would be to say "it's not trademarkable, it's generic" which neither party would want to do in this case. The court adjudicates the claims made, not the actual truth. 2603:8001:D3F0:87E0:0:0:0:12BA (talk) 00:01, 14 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
While true that court docs are generally not acceptable as reliable sources, your interpretation is incorrect. Suggestive marks in general are perfectly legal, and the functional source of the naming scheme would have made no difference in the case. If they had claimed derivation from Rx, it might even have worked in United Pharmacy's favor in the case presented; they lost. cheers. anastrophe, an editor he is. 06:16, 14 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

The Rexall.com website says "In the beginning, the Rexall® name grew from "Rx" to "Rexall"." — Preceding unsigned comment added by Whitcwa (talkcontribs) 11:19, 13 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Wild Times at Rexall! edit

I worked in the "World's Biggest Drugstore" in 1980, and it was the craziest place you can imagine! There were employees moonlighting with Penthouse Enterprises (right across the street) to produce and market really W-E-I-R-D B&D publications for sale in Australia... Many other strange things went on. It was a nuthouse! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1700:6AE5:2510:0:0:0:46 (talk) 20:29, 23 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Rexall is a major chain in Canada edit

There are Rexall's everywhere around me, I just checked in Google maps and found 3 within a 5 minute drive. The article appears to cover only the US side of things. I don't recall them being so common 10 years ago, so I assume this is a recent rebranding. 70.31.79.119 (talk) 17:01, 25 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Rexall/Sundown sale and divestitute edit

The Pittsburgh Tribune citation is no longer accessible, here are the claims made that are supposedly supported by that source:

  • Numico acquired Rexall Sundown in 2000.
  • Numico split up the Rexall divisions and divested them in 2003.
  • The name Rexall-Sundown was sold to NBTY, a US vitamin company.
  • The Unicity Network division was to be sold to Activated Holdings, a privately held company.
  • Unicity Network was sold to its management after the deal to sell to Activated Holdings fell throug.

The following source provides support for one or more of these claims:

As of August 2021, Nestle acquired Bountiful Brands, including Sundown. Here are some sources:
* Nestlé completes acquisition of The Bountiful Company core brands (press release)
* billion.html Nestle buys vitamin maker Bountiful’s main brands for $5.75 billion
Here's a short list of articles pertaining to companies involved in the thread of name changes:
* The Bountiful Company
* Nestlé
* Rexall
There is a list of brands once owned by Bountiful at The Bountiful Company#Brands. Fabrickator (talk) 03:46, 14 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
