Name
editDoes IOC belong in the name of the team?
The 2016 Olympic page excluded IOC from the name, and left it as Refugee Olympic Team at the 2016 Summer Olympics, but this page (IOC Refugee Olympic Team at the 2020 Summer Olympics) includes it in the title and throughout the article.
So, is their name officially IOC Refugee Olympic Team or just Refugee Olympic Team? ViveLaSuisse (talk) 05:05, 31 August 2023 (UTC)

IOC Refugee Olympic Team at the 2020 Summer Olympics → Refugee Olympic Team at the 2020 Summer Olympics – Hey all! I believe this article title should be simplified for a couple of reasons:
- Concision: Per WP:CONCISE, we need to balance brevity with sufficient information. IOC Refugee Olympic Team may be the official name of the team, which was the rationale for the move to the current title, but I see absolutely no reason to essentially say "Olympics" three times in this title.
- Consistency: WP:CONSISTENT says article titles should be consistent among similar articles. The team and their participation in 2016 and 2024 all start their titles with
Refugee Olympic Team at
while this is the only article starting with IOC Refugee Olympic Team at.
I think this is a very clear case for both of these policy sections, but I would like to check for consensus from the community. Fire away! Bsoyka (t • c • g) 03:48, 29 July 2024 (UTC) — Relisting. Waqar💬 15:54, 5 August 2024 (UTC)
- It's not as concise since it's not the actual title the team had. And as far as consistency, every Olympics seems to have a different name for these individual teams, both at Wikipedia and everywhere else, so you'd only have consistency for the last two Olympics. I'm not sure it's worth the time to change when it works just fine as is. Fyunck(click) (talk) 06:45, 29 July 2024 (UTC)
