role of Count Alan ? edit

The Breton military leader Count Alan Ar Rouz (died 4 August 1093) was one of the few magnates to support King William II in 1088, yet he is rarely mentioned. Alan was not only the largest property owner in the east of England north of the Thames, from the Port of London to the Scottish border, he was also a hardened veteran of many battles fought beside William I or on his behalf in England and the Continent.
