Boss descriptions edit

I wish to give a brief description of the eight bosses. May I do this? Thank you. Neo Guyver (talk) 22:05, 11 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sounds cool to me.... Anyone is welcome to edit here. JasonHockeyGuy (talk) 06:53, 18 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

I challenge the order and dates of the games release edit

It seems a little bit off - And Xplosiv has released this title in the European Region on PC JasonHockeyGuy (talk) 20:38, 17 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

"large vertically scrolling levels" edit

I removed "large" there as, for example, IGN's review calls the game itself (nevermind the levels!) "a little short", effectively disputing that statement. --an odd name 09:23, 21 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

RayStorm Official Guidebook edit

Among the books mentioned on the curious-cat.net link is The RayStorm Official Guidebook (レイストーム 公式ガイドブック, Reisutōmu koushiki gaidobukku), ISBN 4-7669-2672-2. Webcat says it has boss, story and other information.

If the boss names in the article came from there, they should be cited with quotes and page numbers. (The stage names are mentioned in the manual.) If the guidebook describes the (presumably Roman) origin of those names, quotes of that would be nice as well. --an odd name 00:45, 22 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

GameSpot release date, review edit

GameSpot appears to have an error on their pages (Review, Release Summary). They list the US release date as "Dec 31, 1996", before the Japanese PS version and the same year as the arcade version, but both IGN and WD themselves list it as June 1997. That made me incorrectly say that GameSpot saw slowdown in the "US" version when it was the Japanese one. Oops. --an odd name 07:32, 23 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Plot :differences between Arcade and Extra Mode edit

I think some info on the Plot section needs to be changed, adding a spoiler tag if needed be. The endings between Arcade and Extra are somewhat different. While it can be implied that Secilia (the name of the planet-like space colony) is destroyed under Arcade Mode and is supported by the R-GRAY report under Extra Mode, The fate of the R-GRAYs and Earth differs. In the Arcade mode ending sequence, it can be seen that the player/s successfully escaping from the Juda Central System, and then a few R-GRAYs shown returning to Earth amidst the fully-decimated Third Fleet. However in Extra Mode ending sequence, while the player/s attempt to escape they were seen enveloped by the explosions a couple of seconds before fading to white. Next, Secilia is shown in its disintegrating status while the mission log scrolls. Finally, after the credit roll, the scenery of the Moon is shown, and the camera pans upward towards a heavily-damaged R-GRAY ship, using its remaining functional engines to drift towards what seems to be a destroyed Earth. There is also an additional epilogue revealed towards this Ending if the player beats Extra Mode under the Thirteen Ships Mode. 119.94.0.10 (talk) 14:26, 29 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the comments. While articles like Super Mario 64 detail their story and ending, I'll most likely just take the RayStorm ending back out (I added it) for now (at least until I check over the endings), and then I'll look it over and ask others who have worked on the article to check it out and see if my streak of edits otherwise makes sense. In the meantime:
  1. I do remember the different-looking ship at the end of Extra Mode; I actually didn't understand that part, and I thought the tunnel part was the same (I've only ended both modes once—RayStorm is not an easy game to end and check back on, and I've played the demo for years and full game for months). Thank you for explaining the ending; that explanation might be considered "original research" for the article—or maybe not—but at least I now know what happened.
  2. See Wikipedia's spoiler note. In short, because spoilers are expected in articles that cover things in detail, and because there is already a general content disclaimer, spoiler tags and similar warnings aren't necessary (or even allowed) anymore. Be careful if you're plot-conscious!
  3. I only own the Working Designs port of the game. I think the plot and other stuff was based on the original Japanese version before I started editing, but the sources weren't clear. If you have the Japanese PlayStation version, any important differences can be given but should be cited clearly (with page numbers and quotes, especially if non-English; see e.g. TGL, a good article) so people can see it's not just made-up.

So I checked the Extra ending again, and it goes as you said. I will not verify the 13 Players part, for several reasons, but I edited the article now; does the Arcade mode ending seem right as well? --an odd name 21:28, 29 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
I also got to the 13 Players Extra Mode ending (in easy mode, of course :/ ), and there is an epilogue as stated. --an odd name 02:02, 1 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Second opinions edit

It's been a week since the last comment here by anyone else, and a while since anyone else edited the article. I have little else to add to the article at the moment, so I think I'll start asking others what to do next here. --an odd name 00:08, 6 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Assessment as of 2008-12-14 edit

Rated it C. This article is off to a good start, and with some nurturing should be able to obtain B-class in no time. Keep up the good work.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 21:35, 14 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, Kung Fu Man. I'll try to assess an article myself soon. --an odd name 21:43, 14 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
