The article might be improved, chronologically, to explain that, presumably, the rancho land grant reverted back to the seller (the grant was patented to Bethuel Phelps in 1866) after the both a buyer and a creditor from an 1854 sale were killed (Hetherington fatally shot Randall in 1856). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 144.183.224.2 (talk) 01:21, 10 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
