Hoax? edit
With a first look at the article, I wondered if the article was a hoax. However, it doesn't appear to be, going by this. A google search confirms that he was HP's former GM for e-speak business. Borderline notability, imo. --Gurubrahma 12:05, 2 July 2006 (UTC)

- He is credited by many as the inventor of web services (albeit not as we know them now). His articles at HP Labs date back into the early '90's on the subject. Basically Gupta was probably the conceptual inventor of Web Services although his e-speak model was different from the existing implementation. He had articles on this subject dating back to 1991 I believe. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.65.44.202 (talk) 13:26, 17 May 2012 (UTC)
Proposed deletion edit
I thought there was enough to err on the side of keeping. It is a bit confusing since there is apparently another Rajiv L. Gupta on the board of directors of HP, not this one. I kept the article saying "father of web services" but just stating that in the article based on one source might be too far. W Nowicki (talk) 16:22, 12 October 2016 (UTC)
