RADIO CLYDE'S PLAYLIST PROBLEMS

In the mid eighties up to the mid ninties Clyde's playlist was actually trendsetting. They were one of the only regional stations which actually played dance music with the 23rd precinct dance charts in the early 80's. ( Seguns "Alright All Night Sats 1am to 5 am On Radio Clyde FM. Segun was a treasure to Clyde.)And they done the "Hi Energy" charts with Bill Grainger (future manager of boy band "Big Fun" which was in conjunction with the Stirling nighclub "Rainbow Rocks". And their play list was more innovative than Radio 1's for the time. But has the 90's drew to a close Clyde had become a bland station with very little idea of what actually constitues good music. The play list is very repetitve. And the station relys too much on its football coverage on Clyde 2 to keep the advertising revenus afloat.One casualty was the sacking of the DJ Paul Welsh who was actually the only DJ left who played underground dance , electronica,house etc. Once Welsh was gone the station lost any credibility with genuine underground music fans.
