Request

I would like to see references to the "Plan Primavera" (Spring Plan) and the lukewarm efforts at privatization of state-owned companies. Regarding the latter, one could probably mention Rodolfo Terragno and the possibility of the Scandinavian airline SAS buying Aerolíneas Argentinas. In the end, very few privatizations happened during his government. Once it was announced that the company "Opalinas Hurlingham" had been privatized, which sounded like a joke. A reference to Opalinas Hurlingham ended up in a song by the rock band Divididos. Saulo35 12:34, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

Death

Alfonsín died today, March 31st 2009. Please edit accordingly. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.19.67.229 (talk) 00:12, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

Is there any Wikipedia policy on this? For example, should all the text, like "is a member of...", be changed into the past tense? 190.188.180.148 (talk) 00:37, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
It's not a question of WP policy, it's a question of common sense. If you write that a dead person "is" something, readers will likely think "Who wrote this rubbish!". Sentences like, for example, "He is regarded as the most important politician in Argentina's history" are different - that's a passive construction, referring to other people who are doing the regarding. -- JackofOz (talk) 01:55, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

Death (cancer)

Someone needs to change the comment that Alfonsin died "after a long battle with lung cancer" as he was diagnosed last year and cannot be considered a long time by any means. The comment implies several years or more.

You're welcomed to do it yourself, ideally after logging-in. Kind regards, DPdH (talk) 14:33, 4 April 2009 (UTC)

@Cambalachero: Added all my comments below: Sainsf <^>Feel at home 10:46, 1 April 2016 (UTC)

Lead

  • Merge the first two paras, they look too short.
  • I think we should link "writ" and "Self-amnesty". In the main text as well.
  • Carlos Menem is linked twice
  • full stop law and the law of Due Obedience No italics needed

Early life and career

  • Alfonsín was born I would like to have the main text begin with his full name
  • Can Buenos Aires be linked?
  • Following his elementary schooling Not clear if "his" refers to the father or the son
  • Alfonsín bought a local newspaper (El Imparcial) I am sure you refer to the company and not that he picked up one from a stall. Can be clearly worded
  • La Plata is linked twice.

Presidential campaign

  • the slogan "Ahora Alfonsín" In which language is this? And what does it mean?
  • the Plaza de la República No italics needed
  • in clean elections Meaning?

First days

  • Duplink: Peronism

Aftermath of the Dirty War

  • You say "Dirty War" at places, and "dirty war" elsewhere. We need consistency throughout the article
  • Full stop law and Law of Due Obedience don't need italics
  • Duplinks: Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo, Jorge Videla, Emilio Massera, Leopoldo Galtieri, Enrique Gorriarán Merlo

Social policies

  • Duplink: University of Buenos Aires

Foreign policy

  • Duplink: Pope John Paul II

Economic policy

  • Duplink: Bernardo Grinspun
  • There is a clarification needed template
  • Link gross domestic product

Midterm elections

  • No source for the first para?

Later years

  • There are some clarification and citation needed templates.
  • Source for the 5th para?
  • support anyway "anyway" looks informal.
  • Duplinks: Buenos Aires, Casa Rosada

Death

  • started a Candlelight vigil. No caps for "C"
  • Duplinks: María Lorenza, Barreneche Carlos Menem, Eduardo Duhalde, Néstor Kirchner

Legacy

  • Duplinks: Pact of Olivos, Ricardo Alfonsín
  • son, Ricardo Alfonsín Comma not needed
  • This latter award "The" not "this"

That should be all. These done, I would be happy to promote this. Sainsf <^>Feel at home 10:46, 1 April 2016 (UTC)

Done, but I kept "Plaza de la República" in italics, per MOS:FOREIGNITALIC. Cambalachero (talk) 18:50, 1 April 2016 (UTC)
Thank you. I believe this article can be promoted now. Great job! Sainsf <^>Feel at home 19:01, 1 April 2016 (UTC)
