Fictional Character? edit

I can find no historical reference to this character outside of the Spartacus television show, or Ben Hur. Can someone provide a historical reference, or should we submit this as a candidate for deletion? - Vedexent (talk) - 19:19, 3 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

vide de:s:RE:Arrius 7 for more info, unfortunately in German with original latin sentences by Cicero . As far as I understand, the Pauly-Wissowa thesaurus consisting of approx. 60 volumes, is also available in English version. Namesake? edit

In Cicero's Letter 2.5 to Atticus a certain Arrius is mentioned. There is a footnote in the text on wikisource [1] saying: "Q Arrius, an orator and friend of Caesar's, by whose help he had hoped for the Consulship". Per the chronology It can hardly be the same person described in the article here. A son maybe? --Proofreader (talk) 09:24, 12 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

This Quintus Arrius was a contact man of Caesar and Cicero. He was a different person than the praetor of 73 BC, and according to the opinion of the ancient historian Elimar Klebs he was also not a son of this praetor. He is more often mentioned by Cicero but still we do not know enough of him to say in what degree of kinship he was to the praetor. See de:s:RE:Arrius 8.
