Redirect/merge edit

This article was proposed for deletion on notability grounds back in 2008. It was, however, deprod'ed shortly afterwards. To my mind, the notability concerns remain. In particular, based on my own WP:BEFORE reviews, I do not see how the subject meets WP:GNG or WP:NBUILDING. In particular, on the latter, the church building (late 1940s) and parish centre (mid 1990s) are not protected structures and are not under consideration for protection (as neither has been surveyed under the NIAH program). While I was inclined to open an AfD, as an alternative to deletion I am proposing to redirect this title to the "Bray parishes" section of the List of parishes in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Dublin article. And to, perhaps, merge what very limited content we have here to the relevant entry in the table at that target. Unless there are other thoughts, I will likely do this in the coming days. Sounds good Laurel Lodged (talk) 19:26, 12 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

I could support the redirect idea, although there is some useful information here and the list page mentioned is really not able to take such material on board - it is bascially an organisation chart / list. I think better, if the material could be found, to expand it into an article on the parish and church. This would be very workable if all Bray sat within one parish but I seem to recall that there are either 3 or 4 RC parishes there (one north of the Dargle, one in the core, and 1-2 more in the southern suburbs. I will check sources to see if there is any hope of this. At least one other Bray parish church has a short article, so an alternative could be a Roman Catholic Church in Bray article... SeoR (talk)
OK. I've actually gone ahead with the merge and redirect. While I understand the point about the target article being something of a list (right now), to my eye the "other details" column in the target can readily sustain some of the basic facts (build date, constitution date, etc) that had made up the short source article for 15 years or so. The other stuff (about communions of local schools or donations to Africa) is of the "could be said of any church anywhere" variety. And I haven't moved it. As implied/suggested, I've tagged the source with Template:R with possibilities. So that, if someone does expand the article (or create a separate "Bray parishes" article) in the future, someone could always come back and take another look... Fair enough. I was away but you got my point, no objections here. I think that target page could be made into a more useful table; organising by current rural dean is a strange approach anyway. I will chalk it up to “rainy day” projects… SeoR (talk)<
