editHow is the Protein Ontology different from the Gene Ontology?
Most importantly: where is the definition of this Protein Ontology?
This article does not contain any reference and the external link is presently dead.
I propose to delete this entry, or to redirect to Gene Ontology.
Proposal for separate entry: "Protein Ontology"
editProtein Ontology is different from Gene Ontology as it addresses information about Protein complexes that assist in cellular functions and dysfunctions. Gene Ontology classifies protein as a gene ontology product, and it provides limited usage if we redirect Protein Ontology to Gene Ontology. With development of Genome to Life Program after Human Genome Project and development of many protein data and information sources, wikipedia should have a separate page that brings various protein ontology initiatives together to help in development of protein ontology. Two of the groups working towards it are: http://proteinontology.info/ and http://pir.georgetown.edu/pro/ and wikipedia should provide common platform for projects like these in development of protein ontology. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bio-ont (talk • contribs) 07:33, 22 July 2007

This name should be refered to the Protein Ontology (PRO) released by the Protein Information Resource. Larry.europe (talk) 14:31, 4 December 2017 (UTC)

Hi I think this page should redirect to the Protein Information Resource page instead of the Gene Ontology page, because PIR provides the official Protein Ontology (PRO) database.
Thanks,
