I've tried to find out what happened to Unkel, with no success. The last film she appeared in was released in 1958. That's the same year she stops appearing in the German Phone Directories under "Petra Unkel", noted as living in "München, Bayern (Bavaria), Deutschland (Germany)". Perhaps she died in '58? I would appeal to somebody with better knowledge of the German birth and death records to have a look to see if they can find anything. I wouldn't know where to start sadly.
