"Book of Kells" Book author?

The subject of this article may also be the author of a small 1980 book about the Book of Kells, as stated in the Library of Congress data page which is this article's current first reference. I say "may", because library data pages can confound authors with similar names, so I have some skepticism on the point.

Quick internet searches of "Peter Douglas Brown" with other choice keywords easily pull up several library data pages, which seem to agree on the 18th-century British history stuff as a unit. The question is whether this person is (was?) the same person who wrote the above Kells book, and died in 1984 as discussed recently at the Book of Kells article talk page.

This leads to a question of text access. I don't have the 18th-century Peter Douglas Brown texts in front of me, so if any editor has access to these texts and can check out author information in the front or back matter, it might help to establish whether the article's subject was also the Trinity Dublin head librarian (or not). Hello, apologies for the delay in replying. In Brown's works on the Chathamites and William Pitt, there isn't much about him in the front matter or the back flap of the dust jacket apart from his education and hobbies. His biography of Pitt was published in 1978 and there is no mention of his being a librarian of Trinity Dublin. I would guess it is not the same person but I found it hard to find information about him.--Coningsby (talk) 23:50, 9 July 2021 (UTC)

I suppose the idea has been pushed about as far as it can go, and you've echoed another user's sentiment that these are likely two different people who have been confused in library records. Thanks! Genealogical research

I looked on Ancestry for any possible death records and found two records in England & Wales, Civil Registration Death Index, 1916-2007. Neither are exact but one might be for this Brown.

The first one is for a Peter Douglas Brown who was born 7 July 1925 and died in December 2002 in Oxfordshire. A family tree seems to have this Brown included but gives his birth date as 25 June. It also says that he was born in Ealing, Middlesex and died whilst travelling from London to Oxford on Christmas Day.

The second one, also for a Peter Douglas Brown, states that a man of that name was born 14 June 1925 and died in 1999 in Bristol. A family tree with this Brown included says that he was born in Steyning, Sussex and also married in 1956 in Brighton to Ruby Margaret Elizabeth Patching.
