Plaque locations needed edit

It might be helpful to also list the location of each person's federal plaque, and to even group them by province/territory, as has been done for national historic sites. This very long list, as it stands, is unwieldy. It might yet be useful to maintain one complete national list, however. The same goes for the Sites list, which has been parsed. Thoughts welcome. Agreed. It is an overly long list, especially if we ever wanted to add more information to the chart, such as plaque location (as you suggested) or photos. If the list were broken down, I would personally do so by way of a half-dozen or so broad groupings by profession (e.g. businesspeople, politicians, sportspeople, etc.), since the persons are designated for their accomplishments in a particular field, not their province of birth/residence/work (all of which may differ). --Skeezix1000 (talk) 15:16, 28 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
Thematic groupings make sense if you're researching a topic. But if, like me, you enjoy visiting each site to read the plaques and discover new places, then a geographic breakdown is of greatest help. Once grouped by province/territory, the name and location columns could then have a 'sort' toggle, so users could group them by city/town. This makes me hanker for a complete list of Sites, Persons and Events, all on one page for each province. Such a consolidation would make organizing a trip more efficient. This is an encyclopedia, not a tourist website. The Parks Canada website allows one to search by province and location, if that's what you're looking for, and a external link to that website would do the trick for travellers who happen upon Wikipedia. An encyclopedia, in contrast, should be organized thematically when the actual designations are done on that basis. As for consolidation, the existing NHSC lists are already too long, let alone consolidating them with separate designations by province. --Skeezix1000 (talk) 12:08, 22 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Updating the list edit

I've been looking to find the designations made after February 2011 and have been unsuccessful. Does anyone have any resources to send me so I can do the grunt work, if they don't want to do the work themselves. Tradereddy (talk) 11:46, 24 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

The DFHD allows you to search designations by year. This, for example, are the designations made in 2012. Hope that helps.--Skeezix1000 (talk) 13:24, 24 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
It is now updated to February 2015. Yoho2001 (talk) 06:44, 21 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
