Notability edit

From Wikipedia:Notability_(people)#Creative_professionals:

1. The person is regarded as an important figure or is widely cited by peers or successors.

Irish is a very active and important figure in the web development community. In addition to his nearly 70k followers on Twitter[1] and 44k followers on G+[2] he is also cited and featured by his peers[3]

.

2. The person is a significant contributor to, a subject of, or used as an expert source by major news agencies or publications.

  • Featured Interview in the August 2012 issue of Adobe's Appliness mobile magazine for his contributions to HTML5 evangelism.[4]
  • Interviewed by Adobe for their Inspire magazine about two of his projects, HTML5 Boilerplate & Modernizr.[5]
  • Interviewed by VentureBeat about Google's stance on native mobile vs mobile web-app development[7]

4. The person has created, or played a major role in co-creating, a significant or well-known work, or collective body of work, that has been the subject of an independent book or feature-length film, or of multiple independent periodical articles or reviews.

Irish contributed to the jQuery project as is listed in the Past Team Members section who are "still considered key contributors for the jQuery Project"[8]. He also is the lead developer of Modernizr[9] and HTML5 Boilerplate[10], both projects are used by companies like Google, Microsoft, NASA, Twitter, and others. They are some of the most well-known front-end web development frameworks and have been covered by many prominent web development publications like Smashing Magazine[11][12], Tuts+[13][14], and SixRevisions[15][16] among others.

Photo Needed edit

I would like to have a photo in this post but I don't have access to one with an appropriate license. His personal site is licensed under CC0. Does anyone know if this includes his photo?

We shouldn't keep the current photo because having credits inside the image doesn't follow Wikipedia's images guidelines. Bergamote (talk) 18:02, 8 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

List of Projects edit

I feel like, instead of enumerating every single thing Irish has ever been remotely related to, the article should only list projects for which he was a lead or integral part, e.g. HTML5 Boilerplate, Modernizr, Yeoman, & the entire HTML5 evangelism section. He has almost nothing to do with Bower or jQuery, so while of course the 3-4 commits he's added to each do qualify as "contributing" I don't think it's enough of a contribution to warrant inclusion. I'm inclined to agree in regards to Bower. That should probably be removed. However his role in jQuery was much more than just a few commits. He is one of relatively few people recognized as jQuery team members (~60 current and former team members, over 3200 contributors to the project). He was in charge of standards when he actually worked actively on jQuery and as such, his contributions likely took the form of management, planning, research and advice, rather than writing code. This could be something to clarify with him, he has been responsive on Twitter. anstosa (talk) 18:21, 22 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

OK, good point, I'm in total agreement. I'll remove Bower from the list, feel free to revert if you think this is premature. Phette23 (talk) 23:15, 23 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Cleanup tags, COI, etc. edit

@Duffbeerforme: You recently added several cleanup tags to this article, including a COI tag, but without any apparent explanation for this tag. Does any specific editor have a conflict-of-interest here? Jarble (talk) 01:40, 3 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
