Rename (2005)
edit- The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section.
(Rename|Pandemonium) Anyone agree? Most of the disamb. page is spelled Pandemonium. -- Cuahl 23:36, 11 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Lack of articles
editMany of the defintions don't link (red-link or otherwise) to an article on the subject listed. I propose to delete them. Josh Parris#: 01:19, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
Cleanup
editThis page was marked for cleanup per MoS:DAB because it contained too many non-article entries. I checked each entry and removed the following entries because the linked-to articles don't (or just barely) mention them, making it useless to list them on this dab page:
- Dark's Pandemonium Carnival, the sinister travelling carnival in the 1983 film Something Wicked This Way Comes
- Pandemona, a GF you can summon in Final Fantasy VIII
- Pandemonium, a level in Doom
- Pandemonium Fortress, the final fortress between Heaven and Hell in the video game Diablo II
- Pandemonium, Dong Zhuo's Level 11 Weapon on Dynasty Warriors 4: Xtreme Legends
- Pandemonium, an old castle of the Metal Demons in Wild Arms
- Pandemonium, a zone in Anarchy Online (the last zone of the expansion pack The Shadowlands)
- Pandemonium (Discworld), a demon city in the Discworld novels by Terry Pratchett
- Pandemonium, one of the most difficult songs in the dancing video game In The Groove
Removed for being redlinks and not giving enough (reliable) context to determine notability. If I am wrong here, I'd prefer people with knowledge about these topics to at least create stubs and only then add these entries back on the dab page:
- Pandemonium (book) (2006), by Andrew Nikiforuk
- Pandemonium - polish dark/black metal band. The tens of thousands of copies "Devilri" (1992) sold made it one of the best selling demos in the world.
- Pandemonium dutch hardcorepunk band 1981-1986 http://homepages.nyu.edu/~cch223/netherlands/pandemonium_main.html
- Pandaemonium italian Power Metal band
- Pandemonium (disease)
- Frost's Pandemonium Carnival, a touring group of magicians, illusionists, and fire jugglers in the southwestern United States

Pandæmonium → Pandæmonium (disambiguation) — Pandæmonium should be about the capital of Hell since it is the only usage with the Æ —Reginmund 08:22, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

- Support - per reasons given Reginmund 08:22, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
- Weak oppose That means we are depending on the distinction between æ and e, and in some cases between æ and ae to dismbiguate articles. This seems foolhardy. There is the additional problem that editions of Milton are inconsistent: Project Gutenberg varies from ae to e within one edition. The secondary literature appears to use Pandemonium more frequently. Septentrionalis PMAnderson 21:14, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
- Oppose, per PMAnderson.--Aldux 14:37, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
It was requested that this article be renamed but there was no consensus for it be moved. --Stemonitis 06:01, 11 August 2007 (UTC)
- To me, it seems pretty clear that the page should be moved, per Wikipedia:Disambiguation#Page_naming_conventions, since "capital of Hell" is the well-known primary meaning. Alternative spellings should redirect to that page and that article should have a link to the (disambiguation) page at the top. --Echo R314 (talk) 09:07, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
Requested move
edit- The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was Pandæmonium (this article) moved to Pandemonium. Pandæmonium_(Paradise_Lost) not moved. --Aervanath (talk) 11:21, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
The disambiguation page contains one entry for something spelled "Pandæmonium," one entry for something spelled "Pandaemonium," and the rest are all "Pandemonium." It therefore makes sense for the disambiguation page to be placed at Pandemonium, which currently redirects here.
I am further suggesting that Pandæmonium (Paradise Lost) be moved to Pandæmonium, with a hatnote at that article linking to the disambiguation page for other uses. While it's entirely conceivable for someone to mix up the two spellings, it seems unlikely that a user would go to the trouble of inserting the funny ae for a spelling that doesn't actually include it. Propaniac (talk) 15:40, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
- Just to be clear, what I am proposing in the end is that: Pandemonium would be the disambiguation page, Pandæmonium would be the Paradise Lost article, and there would be a hatnote link from Pandæmonium to the disambiguation page (and, of course, the disambiguation page would list Pandæmonium among its entries). It would also be possible, if people chose, for Pandemonium to be the disambiguation page and Pandæmonium to be a redirect to the disambiguation page. The latter does not make sense to me personally, because it is supposing that a user would be likely to navigate to "Pandæmonium" when looking for an article titled "Pandemonium," but others may disagree with my reasoning. Propaniac (talk) 21:19, 5 February 2009 (UTC)
- Support. Seems to be a good simplification. 199.125.109.126 (talk) 16:31, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
- Around the time when Paradise Lost was written, in England learned men often wrote 'æ' for 'ae' in Latin and Greek words. This 'æ' may as well be treated as equivalent to 'ae'. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 16:37, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
- Partial oppose/support I think the dab page should be at Pandemonium (Support), but both Pandæmonium and Pandaemonium should redirect to it. I do not support (Oppose) the move of the Paradise Lost page. 76.66.196.229 (talk) 06:59, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
- Can you offer a reason why you oppose the move of the latter page? Propaniac (talk) 20:13, 5 February 2009 (UTC)
- It is an alternate spelling of "pandemonium" and therefore should be pointed to the dab page. 76.66.196.229 (talk) 06:37, 6 February 2009 (UTC)
- Can you offer a reason why you oppose the move of the latter page? Propaniac (talk) 20:13, 5 February 2009 (UTC)
- dizzy. But I guess I support the change of the spelling with all current variations redirecting to a single article, the Paradise Lost Pandemonium, which will contain a hatnote linking back to this page, which will be under the new name :) (?) Mrathel (talk) 20:31, 5 February 2009 (UTC)
- Oppose all moves. The original, historic, and etymologically correct spelling should really be used for the dab page; and for Milton, who knew enough to spell it that way. Septentrionalis PMAnderson 15:45, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

Time for cleanup again
editList has been crufted up again, containing at least 21 entries that are not "associated with the title Pandemonium". That's the criterion for this db page, folks: any item added to the page must be associated with a WP article titled "Pandemonium". If it does not meet that criterion, it doesn't belong here. This isn't a dumping ground for your favorite thing named Pandemonium that wasn't sufficiently noteworthy to have generated a WP article. It's a directory of similarly named actually existing articles, to help users decide which one they're trying to find. 207.155.212.66 (talk) 20:33, 6 April 2016 (UTC)
Video game entry
editIn the Diablo game series by Blizzard-Activision, specifically Diablo 2 and Diablo 3 (not sure about Diablo 4), there is a Pandemonium Fortress that players can visit. It is described as the last bastion of Heaven before one descends into Hell to fight demons. Not sure if people on here were aware of that. 2601:640:CC81:6830:79B3:6149:3CEB:8887 (talk) 06:50, 5 June 2023 (UTC)
