I haven't found a source yet that shows the prefect of Egypt is the same man as the suffect consul. On one hand, it's possible: Lucius Volusius Maecianus is known to have been promoted to have been prefect of Egypt, & afterwards promoted to the Senate, & made suffect consul, so there is a president for this. On the other hand, they could be father-son or cousins; Romans could be astoundingly unimaginative when it came to names, such as in the case of the emperor Vespasian & his son Titus, who otherwise had the same name.
