Unsourced additions edit

Hello TamasinZZ, thank you for your addition to this page. By chance do you have reliable sources you could cite to verify this material? Particularly because it could be seen as promotional for the brand, we need to be rigorous about making sure we have good sources verifying our entries. It’s essential that readers know Wikipedia does not exist to market anything. Thanks with your help keeping Wikipedia a trustworthy encyclopedia. For now I have reverted the changes but you can still find them here to add back any portions that can be independently verified, i.e. with a source not associated with the company or Pilkington. Thank you! Innisfree987 (talk) 21:57, 4 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
Funmi Fetto published an article in The Guardian in February 2020 about gender free Fragrances, citing Linda Pilkington and Ormonde Jayne as being the ringleader in taking away gender for Perfume houses. TamasinZZ (talk) 22:01, 4 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for that interesting article! I see it notes: “Unisex perfume, as it was traditionally called, has had its moment in the sun before. In 1994 the launch of CK One revolutionised the fragrance scene, blurring its gender lines with a clean but sexy citrussy scent”. So that would appear to precede Pilkington. Minor Changes to initial paragraph requested for Ormonde Jayne Wiki page edit

  • What I think should be changed: The first initial introductory paragraph and any reference to "bath" or "body products". The wording for the initial paragraph is requested to be changed to:

Ormonde Jayne is an independent, London-based perfumery founded by creative director Linda Jayne Pilkington, in the year 2000. The niche perfume house creates fine fragrances and luxury scented homewares.

  • Why it should be changed: The introductory paragraph gives the impression that there are two creators of the perfumes: Linda Pilkington and Geza Schoen. In fact Linda Pilkington is chief creator (Creative Director) and works with a number of different collaborators across the collection to achieve her vision of scent formulations. Furthermore, Ormonde Jayne no longer sells bath or body products.

Hello @Jerryrayjoseph. I have made the update about bath products. As for the perfumers, we would need a reliable source to make that change, as the information about Schoen's role is documented by The New York Times. If you can point to other independent, reliable sources discussing this point, I’ll be glad to look at them. Thanks. Innisfree987 (talk) 21:23, 14 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Adding product images to Ormonde Jayne wiki page edit

Hello Innisfree,

I hope you are well. I have tried to add relevant images before to this article but they were removed due to licensing issues.

The images creator (johneselby) has signed up to Wiki Commons and has uploaded the relevant images to be uploaded so that they can be freely used under the Wiki Commons license. The images are:

Man-Woman

Signature-Packs

Ormonde_Jayne_Perfumes_Packaging

Would you be able to advise the next steps for these to be uploaded to the Ormonde Jayne page?

Also, can you advise of the process to get the logo to be licensed so that this can also be used on the Wiki page?

Many Thanks for your help!

Hello @Jerryrayjoseph. The previous images were not only deleted because of copyright but also because the Commons has a policy (so does English Wikipedia) against hosting advertisements. I made a cropped version of the bottles image which I think has some informational value for the reader but the others are really just promotional images, so I am not going to add those. As for the logo, it needs to be converted to SVG format. You may be able to get help with that at the Commons; sorry I haven’t time to look it up myself. Cheers, Innisfree987 (talk) 18:19, 11 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Jerryrayjoseph, on further investigation, the uploader will need to provide proof of authorship for the bottle image, since it’s already been published elsewhere. I have made that request of him on the Commons. Innisfree987 (talk) 22:09, 11 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
