Can someone please revise? edit

Fist of all, this article needs to be renamed from OVO Sound to Octobers Very Own(OVO). OVO Sound should be a sub-category under Octobers Very Own. ' The list of in-house producers should be removed. It should be one list of all of the musicians on the label; there is no need to create a specific section of producers. The saying 'in-house producer' is more of a matter of expression then an actual category of profession. The sentence 'The label is based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and was created in 2012' should be changed to The label was founded in Toronto, Ontario in 2012'. The sentence 'The label is currently distributed by Warner Bros. Records (Warner Music Group)' makes no sense as a record label cant be distributed. It should be changed to 'The labels music is currently being distributed by Warner Bros. Records' or something to that effect. The section titled 'roster' should changed to 'featured musicians' or 'signed acts' as 'roster' is not a formal term in music entertainment and more of a slang. The history section needs strong revision. First of all, OVO did not start as an independent label in 2007. comeback season and so far gone were not released under this label; these were independent ventures and there was no label. Octobers Very Own started as a website to promote Drakes music and to chronicle their journey along the way. It later turned into an entertainment group that includes members not signed to OVO sound. Im sure you could find an online article that explains this. OVO Sound is not the same as Octobers Very Own and all implications that this is so needs to be removed. The sentence 'Drake has already been building up his October’s Very Own brand by shouting out to OVO on his songs, releasing music and selling OVO merchandise on their website, and hosting the annual OVO festival in his hometown Toronto' should be removed completely because its not relevant and OVO fest is not directly related to the label. The sentence 'Even though the label was officially founded in 2012 by Drake and Noah "40" Shebib, Drake represented OVO since his previous mixtapes were released' is redundant and should be removed. The sentence 'Similar to how Rick Ross is signed as a solo artist to Def Jam and his artists on his Maybach Music Group label are signed to Atlantic Records (formerly signed to Warner Bros. Records), Drake will still be signed as a solo artist to Republic Records through Young Money/Cash Money, but the artists he signs to his new label releases will go through Warner Bros. Records.' needs to be rewritten, as it sounds like someone was writing from personal knowledge. This sentence doesn't make sense either. Either it should be removed completely or should be simplified to ' Drake is still officially signed to Cash Money Records' or something to that effect. The sentence 'Upon founding the label Drake and 40 signed frequent collaborators Boi-1da, T-Minus, and Mike Zombie to the label as in-house producers' should be simplified to '[...]drake and noah signed frequent collaborators such as Boi-1da, T-Minus and Mike Zombie' as there is no need to specify the fact that they're in-house producers. The sentence 'In late April 2013 it was reported that Drake was close to signing the first artist[...]' should be changed to, 'in late april 2013, it was reported that the label was close to signing their first artist[...].' because this article is not about Drake. The sentence 'In August 2013, Drake announced that he signed Toronto singing/producing group Majid Jordan and producer Nineteen85 to OVO Sound' should be changed to 'In August 2013, it was announced that OVO Sound signed the Toronto act Majid Jordan and producer Nineteen85 to the label'. The OVO festival section needs strong revision. There is no need to specify who came to the first ovo fest, and the second ovo fest, and then the third ovo fest and so forth, especially when there are the same musicians being named several times. It seems like this was done only to make the section seem larger. Those sentences should be condensed into one sentence that includes list of a few of the musicians that have attended any of the four festivals and no a seperate sentence for every festival. If someone wishes to specify who went to which festival, then a new wikipedia page should be made for OVO fest. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 184.148.128.215 (talk) 15:44, 26 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

OVO Fest is a list edit

In articles like this, we need to avoid creating sections that are going to generate a long list of information that will constantly need updating. I think the OVO fest section needs to be written in a way that is not in the form of a list and simply provides general information about what the festival is about and how often it takes place. The rest of the article can include significant events that happened throughout the festivals that would be considered notable, like Frank Ocean getting sick before the festival. If the article explains the date and attendees of the first, second, and third OVO fest, then it will be expected that the same is done for the fourth, fifth, sixth, and every OVO festival that happens from now on; this will become a very large article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 184.148.112.235 (talk) 15:46, 27 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

A shooting at an off-site after party? edit

I've removed a section about some off site shooting that happened at a crappy club after OVO one year. It is in no way related to the festival and is irrelevant. It comes off as Torontonians trying to sound "gangster" which is laughable and pathetic. It keeps being readied by a user whom I can only assume added it in the first place. This is an encyclopedia not a place to gossip about every shooting that happens at every after party. If so we should add gossip sections to every major hip-hop festival in North America. 174.91.166.158 (talk) 01:00, 24 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

It appears as you have a vendetta against people from the city of Toronto and why you removed its inclusion from the page. As the shooting was directly responsible for the loss of lives of people who were in attendance at the OVO Fest, it requires inclusion. And since when did a shooting become "gossip"?
Vendetta? This is an encyclopedia ! Have you ever read an encyclopedia ? It does not include gossip, shootings that happened at after parties, what brand of wine drake drinks, etc. 174.91.166.158 (talk) 03:42, 1 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
Encyclopedic content is built off of the completion of work derivative of the article. As this subsection of the article includes a matter DIRECTLY involved with the OVO Fest it requires inclusion. Also, describing Torontonians as "gangster which is laughable and pathetic" appears you have one against the city of Toronto, and its residents.
The fact is this didn't happen at the festival and isn't encyclopedic. It was removed by more than one editor. You have repeatedly added it and are now involved in an edit war. You're false accusations of editors having a "vendetta" are irrelevant. You are being reported for edit warring and risk being banned from editing. 174.91.166.158 (talk) 03:12, 2 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
It is clear you are not listening to anything which I have contributed, or know what is composed of an encyclopedic article. The shooting, despite being off-site, was, again, linked in whole, to the OVO Fest. Please refrain from removing it again, or risk YOURSELF getting reported for edit warring, and being blocked. Your vendetta against people from the city of Toronto remains apparent.
You clearly have never read or seen an encyclopedia. That is VERY apparent. You have been reported for edit warring and vandalism. 174.91.166.158 (talk) 23:07, 6 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Marked this edit request as answered since you went ahead and made the change yourself. In the future, I do not recommend editing the article directly—especially as you were reverted several times by other editors. There is a high chance that your edit could be reverted still. Please be patient. The edit request queue is very backlogged at the moment, and it may take a week to get a response. Best, Altamel (talk) 03:28, 28 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
