Seems to me that if you follow the two links Oceanographic Data Acquisition System (currently a R-to-section redirect to Silas Bent-class survey ship#Configuration and Data Systems) and Ocean Data Acquisition System to their respective articles, the two concepts refer to the same thing. So maybe the first of the two should be deleted, and the "Silas Bent" article should be modified to point to the second? Mathglot (talk) 18:03, 30 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

I don't think we should do this. Judging from the article about the Silas Bent class it looks to me like the Oceanographic Data Acquisition System mentioned there was a special feature used by the US Navy at the time on mobile vessels. On the other hand, the ODAS as described by IOC and WMO is a generic term for any combination of in-situ sensors deployed in a fixed offshore position and, more or less, a synonym for "offshore monitoring buoy". @De728631: That's just what I was wondering, thanks. In that case, I think I'll add a brief description, per the "School" example at MOS:DABPRIMARY. What do you think of:
I think the other two are self-explanatory, and don't need additional notes to help the user find the right page, but these two do. Mathglot (talk) 20:12, 30 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
Good idea, but for the latter I'd go with this:
The "system" in ODAS actually refers to the multitude of sensors in a single carrier device. De728631 (talk) 20:26, 30 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
