Green Bowl

edit

The Green Bowl results should be removed from this article. If it merits its own wp page, add it there, perhaps. -- ForgottenManC (talk) 00:58, 2 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

I can't imagine that it would merit a separate page. I am sure that article, if created, would be proposed for deletion. I think that the Green Bowl results are significant enough to have a place in this article. (Joseph A. Spadaro (talk) 15:11, 31 March 2009 (UTC))Reply
I don't even see anything outside of regional coverage on the game. That being the case, how is the exact score in 1971 notable? -- ForgottenManC (talk) 15:37, 31 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
I haven't seen national (or even state) coverage concerning the fact that Notre Dame High School operates on a trimester academic calendar, either. I haven't seen national (or even state) coverage concerning the fact that Notre Dame High School's yearbook is named The Shield. How, then, are those details of the high school notable? If we follow your line of logic, we'd have to delete 99% of the article contents. Thus, while each detail on its own is not notable per se, such details form a complete picture of the notable topic in question (that is, the high school, itself). Just as the trimester calendar and the yearbook are significant event's in the overall life of the high school, so too is the Green Bowl, I would say. And, reasonable minds may have differing opinions about which specific detail does/does not belong in the article. Certainly, however, an entirely separate article about the Green Bowl game is not warranted. Thanks. (Joseph A. Spadaro (talk) 23:00, 31 March 2009 (UTC))Reply
None of that info takes up over 50% of the vertical space in the article. I was being somewhat facetious about there being an extra article, of course there shouldn't be. For more info on school articles, check out WP:WPSCH/AG. -- ForgottenManC (talk) 23:16, 31 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
Actually, yes, it does. As my above post indicates, your line of logic would eliminate 99% of the content. That, by extension, amounts to (approximately) 99% of the vertical space for the article. Thanks. Also, thanks for that helpful link ... I did check it out. (Joseph A. Spadaro (talk) 02:25, 1 April 2009 (UTC))Reply

Green Bowl 3O request

edit

See above. Seeking editors without a conflict of interest to give input on keeping the Green Bowl section, but removing the table of results.

  • Remove - Scores are largely unencyclopedic and not notable, the list contains excessive examples of a game that should be summarized in prose format to not take over the page. Likely falls under 'trivia which is only of interest to pupils in the school' WP:WPSCH/AG. Using same guidelines significant championships of sports teams should be noted, and perhaps specific notable games in this series, but not a laundry list of scores. -- ForgottenManC (talk) 02:10, 1 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
  • Keep - See comments in section (above) on Talk Page. This is not trivia only of interest to students at the school. It is a classic rivalry, not only of interest to the school students ... but also ... the communities at large, the schools' network of alumni, parents, local media, etc. Trivia of interest to students only includes things such as daily bell schedules and lunch menus. Thanks. (Joseph A. Spadaro (talk) 02:20, 1 April 2009 (UTC))Reply
Agree with everything stated by this editor. Keep the section, but remove the list of results. -- ForgottenManC (talk) 02:32, 1 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
That proposal would render the section, literally, one sentence. Hardly a "section", then ... no? (Joseph A. Spadaro (talk) 07:10, 1 April 2009 (UTC))Reply
