"not", in german, is the root of words like "notfall", which translates as "emergency"; the literal translation of "notname" could therefore be considered "contingency-name".

Do the Cycladic Masters count

Some scholars of Cycladic art have given names to master carvers, thinking that they can identify individual artists through their work. The Goulandris Master is named after the Goulandris Museum of Cycladic Art. Do they count as notnames? E.g. here and here: "Like all artists in this early period, the Goulandris Master's real name is unknown, and he is identified only by the style of his work." --Carbon Caryatid (talk) 23:22, 30 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
