Maps edit

I undid my revisions I made removing the maps. Did not realize the maps you put on were identified which sections of the city were each high school. However, the Northeast page should not have the map on there because at says in the article, Northeast is a magnet school and does not have a district. Any student in the city can attend Northeast, but if they decide to play sports they must do it at the school they are in the disctrict for. So leave the map off of the Northeast page.--Rockchalk717 (talk) 14:00, 18 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

They are called special transfers. If a student is outside of a schools district or the entire school dictrict you can request a special transfer, and enroll as a non-resident student. Here's your proof. --Rockchalk717 (talk) 23:36, 18 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
This doesn't sound any more special than when parents in rural areas choose another nearby school district. If you drill down in the web site, it says that people from the high school visit middle schools in the district each year looking for candidates. Actually the special transfer issue is a moot point, because the school is part of the USD 259 school districtu thus the map is still valid for this article. Wichita USD 259 Boundary MapSbmeirowTalk • 23:51, 18 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
The issue I have with the map is USD 259 distict incorporates all of the City Limits of Wichita nothing more nothing less, so you have a school that any High School age kid in the Wichita city limits can go to and any student in the area can go to, so placing a map of the USD 259 school boundry is completely irrelevant. You are attempting good faith edits but your edits the majority of the time are totally irrelevant. If there is a note in the article stating any high school student in wichita can attend the school (like I am about to place in the article, or ensure there is a note) then the map does nothing to help the article.--Rockchalk717 (talk) 02:48, 19 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
Sbmeirow asked me to give input. I'd like to know: how does it hurt to include a map of the district in which this school is located? I understand that a "sub-district" approach wouldn't work, since this is a magnet school, but it seems quite reasonable to me to include a map of the entire district. Wichita Northeast Magnet High SchoolNortheast Magnet High School – Exact school name literally contradicts the school's website. 2600:1700:8BB0:51B0:9D74:C88E:C8D4:6988 (talk) 21:41, 25 October 2022 (UTC) — Relisting. The Night Watch ω (talk) 01:16, 2 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

  • Support There is no other Northeast Magnet High School to disambiguate against. Newspaper usage was inconsistent as to "Wichita Northeast Magnet" or "Wichita's Northeast Magnet", but articles in the Wichita Eagle go for Northeast Magnet without the city. hey User:Natg 19, change it back, this should never have been changed! I didn't have a chance to vote, maybe others didn't either because no notice was posted in the article, thus it never showed up in the Kansas article recent change list. We went through this renaming mess years ago to make all of the Wichita high schools have a similar naming format, thus this should never have been changed only by an IP request. • SbmeirowTalk • 04:03, 9 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
