Little is known about the flag designer. Also, they were not the only designer of the flag, many Tumblr users were involved in choosing the colors and order of stripes. Many reliable sources cover the flag design, mentioning Rowan. Mayhap we could use the content to build an article for Non-binary flag (currently a redirect), instead of merging it with Non-binary gender. Formigable (talk) 21:00, 16 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

That's a great idea, Formigable, thanks. What's the best way to do that? Rename this page Non-binary flag? --Yaburrow-SurveyMonkey (talk) 20:50, 17 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
I believe so. Because most of the content is about the flag. It would make sense to be about the flag.
Maybe there should be more sources and contents, otherwise be a stub. Formigable (talk) 21:48, 17 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, I will rename and edit accordingly! Yaburrow-SurveyMonkey (talk) 15:27, 19 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
It turns out that I cannot move/rename the page because Non-binary flag already exists as a redirect to Non-binary gender.
There's also a Pride flag page. Yaburrow-SurveyMonkey (talk) 15:33, 19 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
Procedural suggestion: The current inability to retitle the article is a technical issue that can be fixed via the request that Formigable made at Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests. That should be fairly straightforward, except this discussion about merging the article into yet another means that there are two conflicting procedural requests. I recommend withdrawing this suggestion to merge into the Non-binary gender article, and throwing your weight behind moving the current version to a better title. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 19:29, 20 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
I tried doing that but it still threw an error (yikes!) Yaburrow-SurveyMonkey (talk) 20:52, 20 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
Okay, I will declare the merge request to be moot and work on moving the page to a new title highlighting the non-binary flag. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 14:14, 23 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Article is Now About the Flag

edit

Pinging Formigable and Yaburrow-SurveyMonkey: Per the above discussion, I have cleaned up the page titles so now this article is focused on the flag. I adjusted the text of the article a bit to reflect the move, but please note that I am not a member of this community so make sure the terminology is correct. By the way, there are several flags listed at Non-binary gender that do not yet have their own articles, so consider creating them! ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 14:29, 23 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Should the image have a plain white stripe or a cosmic-latte stripe?

edit

Kye Rowan explained on tumbler that the hex code for the white stripe is mean to be cosmic latte (#FFF8E7), not plain white (#FFFFFF).[1] Specifically, the original was plain white, but the final design was cosmic latte. From my personal experiences, the design with plain white does seem to be more common, but this is potentially because of Wikipedia displaying this (maybe incorrect?) version with a plain white stripe.

i went ahead and swapped the main image back to the original, since it's the significantly much more common version in actual use, almost to a universal degree. but, i also put the cosmic latte version on the page as well, just separately. i'm hoping that that'll be a good enough compromise aa Sandisser (it/she) (talk) 16:15, 21 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Its commonality wouldn't have been attributed to Wikipedia; the plain white version had already been widely used prior to the creation of this article (October 16, 2023). B3251(talk) 16:32, 21 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
The file is used in Wikipedia before its article existing (see Non-binary gender). --MikutoH talk! 20:23, 24 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
