Libre and Politics edit

The song "Libre!" ("Free!") was a symbol between FOLLOWERS of General Augusto Pinochet and was popular at the time. I'm doing the correction. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.50.11.42 (talk) 21:52, 25 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

After doing several hours of research, I think it is very clear that this song was popular among supporters of Pinochet's regime in Chile. Essentially, its apolitical lyrics were ideal for right-wing regimes like Franco's Spain or Pinochet's Chile, and in Pinochet's Chile it's title was meant to imply freedom from Allende's Marxism (Varas, José Miguel, and Juan Pablo González. 2005. The article claims this song was banned by Fidel Castro however however I can't find any proof of this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.170.33.165 (talk) 22:56, 10 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
