Mikałaj Sudziłoŭski's name in Belarusian

edit

DonaldDuck (talk) 07:35, 11 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sudzilouski was born in Mahilou into a local family and there is no evidence of him not considering himself as a non-local and non-Belarusian. The correct Belarusian spelling of the name is Судзілоўскі and not Судзіловскы, that is why "Sudilovsky" looks ridiculous, as to me. --Czalex 08:09, 11 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
Рождение в Могилёве ничего не говорит об этнической принадлежности. "Судзілоўскі" - такого написания не могло быть при жизни, так как он родился в 1850, а тарашкевица разработана в 1918.DonaldDuck (talk) 10:19, 11 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
Sudzilouski is a Belarusian surname and a Belarusian noble family. If you have information about when the Sudzilouskis moved to Belarus, and from which country they came, it would be a valuable input. We now write Russian czars' names in modern Russian transcript without the letters canceled by Bolsheviks. What differs here from that situation? --Czalex 12:37, 11 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
Why do you think Sudzilovsky is Belarusiann surname, but not Polish, Russian or Ukrainian? Here he is mentioned as "Ukrainian-American". Anyway, google search for "Mikałaj Sudziłoŭski" gives only one link to this wikipedia page and different wiki-clones, while "Nikolai Sudzilovski" is used in scholarly works. Mikałaj Sudziłoŭski is the correct Belarusian name and it must be used in the article --Czalex 22:37, 29 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

While I don't deny that this man led a rather unusual and interesting life, I'm a bit confused as to which part led to someone remembering him 100 years later to create this article. So if you've edited this, I'd be interested to know what aspect of his life meant that you came to hear of him in the first place. Woscafrench (talk) 15:38, 5 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
