Niagara Falls Flyers edit

Just throwing this out there... but the same year the NFF sold their franchise rights to Sudbury... is the same year they started in the SOJHL... and the same year they left the SOJHL (1976) was the same year the OHL Franchise rights from St. Kitts were brought back for the NFF... I'm think there might be a notable connection. I've seen this a few times now... I'm not trying to get ahead of myself, but we might want to consider merging the 2 articles and making the SOJHL team a paragragh in the OHL team's history. This would kill a sloppy article I have created with no history and a little bit of stats... and tally it into the Flyer's bigger picture. I am not saying they are the same team... but I am saying that they are a related history and may be better suited together. DMighton 22:45, 6 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Articles in Question: Niagara Falls Flyers & Niagara Falls Flyers (SOJHL)... DMighton 22:46, 6 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
The Tier I Flyers have no connection to the Tier II Flyers other than a name. Hap Emms hold the Flyers in 1972, then immediately bought the St. Catharines Black Hawks. A completely separate business group used the Flyers name in Niagara Falls. When Mr. Emms moved his Tier I team to Niagara Falls, the lesser team was squeezed of business. I do no think the articles should be merged. Flibirigit 23:06, 7 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
Jason, I am really not trying to be picky here... but this seems a little fishy here... the SOJAHL Flyers weren't squeezed out of town... their league folded. Also, do we known for sure that Emms had no financial stake in the team? I think it sounds very convenient to me. What are your thoughts? DMighton 23:41, 7 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
I retract my statement about the Tier II Flyers being squeezed out of business. However, I see no evidence that the Tier I and Tier II teams are connected. Emms sold the original Flyers in 1972. Emms bought the St. Catharines Black Hawks the same year, then four years later moved the team to Niagara Falls. [1] [2] Flibirigit 02:17, 8 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
Okay... then the next question for me would be the whole first, second franchise thing... do you mean "OHL Franchise" -- I think of the post-'76 team as the third franchise in the great scheme of things... any thoughts? DMighton 02:25, 8 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
The intent of "franchise" is imply a team at the highest level of competion in the OHA, which later became the OHL. Flibirigit 02:39, 8 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
