Talk:Newcastle-under-Lyme School

Name

edit

The school is called "Newcastle under Lyme School". Yes, I know it's in the hypenated Newcastle-under-Lyme, but the name is without hyphens. Check, for example, its own website. Can I see the page move reverted? 129.67.126.127 22:53, 7 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

The school's own website uses the hyphens as well, with the exception of the title in the top of the page. See the 'about this school' part of their website, for example. --JoanneB 13:35, 10 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Gender

edit

The school doesn't take only girls from 3-18, it takes children from both genders. Corrected this information in the main body and the overview sections.

Problems

edit

The text in this article appears to be a direct copy of the school's own website in violation of WP:COPYVIO.

The infobox claims a founding date of 1604. The categories claim "Educational institutions established in the 1600s" and "Educational institutions established in 1874". The text (and the school) claim 1874 and 1874 for the constituent parts. William Watkiss Lloyd (1813–1893) would appear to have been 61 when the school was founded. In short, the dating is a mess needs sorting out.

For the last 5 years there has been a request for citations to support the article. At the moment the only citation is the school website which gives the more modern dates. Martin of Sheffield (talk) 11:15, 13 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
