Lost Cause Bias edit

The section on New Orleans under Union Army is unsourced and has a very Lost Cause bias. I have read many sources that counteract this portrayal and will rewrite adding citations from near contemporary sources. I will also clean up and put citations in sfnp format. A reader has called to my attention a possible inaccuracy in this article, which presently states that Mumford tore down the flag over City Hall, when it was actually the flag over the US Mint, according to the reader. This is in the section on "New Orleans under the Union army". Do any of you know of the accuracy of this statement? Nolabob (talk) 16:31, 28 May 2011 (UTC) On the strength of the reader's argument and to render the article consistent with the more extensive discussion of the incident in the New Orleans Mint article, I have changed the reference from CIty Hall to New Orleans Mint. NOLA had minimal impact on the War edit

New Orleans was a Confederate city for just about a year. It was blockaded and so did not function as a port well before it fell. Frankly, New Orleans had little impact on the ACW. It provided one general officer who has an article. ''Paul, in Saudi'' (talk) 13:46, 28 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
