Merge edit

I am proposing merging Nepean—Carleton (provincial electoral district) into this article, since we treat all other federal and provincial ridings in one article. I don't think this should be too controversial. Mindmatrix 02:57, 12 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

  • I disagree -- many of these articles are becoming large and unweildy. It would be better to go in the other direction, i.e., split other federal articles. Ground Zero | t 11:18, 12 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
Instead of discussing this on multiple talk pages, I'm just going to start a discussion on the notice board. Mindmatrix 15:09, 12 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Agreed, As the same district is used for both provinical and federal elections, it would make sense that the information be included in one file, instead of being separate --Jcampbe

In comparison to other parts of the world there is considerable detail on election results in Ontario (see WP:DIRECTORY). As far as I can see there are no separate articles for provincial ridings if they coincide with federal ridings. Since these articles cover both provincial and federal ridings any noteworthy information can be entered into these articles. It may be worth considering combining pronvincial ridings into a list rather than separate articles since the content is of local importance only . Inwind (talk) 07:39, 18 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
I don't think it's accurate to say the content is of "local importance only". It's of historical importance to anyone who is interested in Canadian federal and/or provincial elections. Dodge rambler (talk) 05:34, 20 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
I could add that there are, in fact, several separate articles for provincial ridings that coincide with federal ridings. I suppose I'm agnostic on whether separate articles are preferable, though they undoubtedly simplify things as regards electoral histories. CJCurrie (talk) 01:36, 22 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
A few years ago, we decided as a policy to split these pages. I began the process, but never finished it. -- Earl Andrew - talk 13:59, 22 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

2011 Federal Election edit

The reference to the Pirate Party candidate has been removed; as of 14 April 2011 the candidate is no longer listed as an official candidate in the riding on the Elections Canada page for Nepean-Carleton. The candidate was removed several days ago from the official Pirate Party website. I have seen several references to a "problem with the signatures" for the candidate's nomination papers, but I can't find any formal reference explaining why the candidate is no longer an official candidate in the riding. If anyone can provide a reference, please add suitable referenced text.Vulcan's Forge (talk) 15:58, 14 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
