Large number of Gujrati's from Navsari and villages around this district settled in New Zealand. This migration started in early 1880 when British required human labour to develop sugarcane plantations in Fiji.Around 1000 men allowed to stay in New Zealand in the early 1900's when there was excess labour in the colonies.
