Nationalistic Bias

Introduction and the History sections of this article are incorrect and has many factual errors that is not even cited.

It shows clear evidence of nationalistic bias and cultural insensitivity. Evidence appear the Keiner, Christine, “Deep Cut: Science, Power, and the Unbuilt Interoceanic Canal” (2020) Chapter 1 Canalising and Colonising the Isthmus, pg. 25-29 @ https://www.jstor.org/stable/j.ctv14npjt2 it was Theodore Roosevelt who deployed battleships to the Caribbean and Pacific coasts in 1903, to stop the Colombians from sending in troops to suppress the American led revolution in Panama. The setup of the naval base and the Panama Canal Zone soon after set up the naval base, that was expanded more in the Second World War. It is disturbing that the US bargained with a French agent for the sale of the property for the naval base and the canal, and that no Panamanians took any part in the ensuing treaty negotiations.

The most egregious statement is that: “After Panama separated from Colombia 1903, Panama and the United States signed a treaty, the Hay–Bunau-Varilla Treaty.” Yet according to the link article for this treaty, it says: “The US had negotiated the Hay–Herrán Treaty with Colombia in early 1903 that would give it control of the canal and would include the purchase of the French-held land for $40 million”

The sections need to be re-written.
