Talk:National Register of Historic Places listings in Prince William County, Virginia

Manassas edit

There were a number of entries listed as being in Manassas, but when I looked up the coordinates in Google Earth they clearly weren't. They all had Manassas Postal address, so that's probably where the confusion came from. As that article says "[s]ometimes the name of the town required by United States Postal Service does not necessarily mean that address is within that city." Some of the "Manassas" ones don't list coordinates (the "Address Restricted" ones), so I'll mark them with a {{citation needed}} sense I can't check them, and half of the "Manassas" ones I could check weren't in Manassas. Be careful looking for sources to see if the ones don't list coordinates really are in Manassas. A source may list them as being in Manassas, not because they are in Manassas, but simply because they have a Manassas postal address, so make sure the source defines "in X" as "in X" and not as "has a X postal address" before using it. Manassas Park moved out ? edit

I removed the 4 items that have been identified as properly being in National Register of Historic Places listings in Manassas Park, Virginia instead of being in Prince Wm County. I think the city of Manassas ones also should be moved out. This is one step towards getting it all done. We don't want overlapping lists! Confusingly for me, Emmette Hernandez Coleman reverted with edit summary "Undid revision 556357567 by Doncram (talk) Not yet, article's scope still includes PWC's independent cities." Okay, I implemented it again, but now with revision of the introductory, lede text to be clear about changing the article's scope. Is that all that is at issue, just making sure the text agrees with the contents? I don't want to edit war or anything, I think we might just have some confusion here, maybe all on my part, about what is wanted. Please comment! --doncram 04:03, 23 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
