Education section needs complete makeover
Nagpur has many educational and cultural societies which impart education or conduct social awareness programs. There are many notable institutions for handicapped people, mentally retarded and other institutions which give knowledge of basic occupations like nursing and mother care. What about dancing schools, schools for deaf and blind?? Why are there no mention of all such notable schools? Why no mention about the museums or libraries ? All I could see is international schools in SEZ, Engg colleges which is fine...mention the wide spectrum of education available in this city.
Sections to be merged, removed or renamed
Nagpur page contains some sections which are not per Wikipedia standards for cities.
Major localities of Nagpur: This list is increasing every day. Wikipedians interested in Nagpur seem to be adding this on large scale. The list is becoming too big for the page and I would like to suggest creating a new page for this. We can provide a link of it on Nagpur's page. Pages for other cities like Mumbai and Banglore have done same. Let me know if anyone has any objection. gppande (talk) 07:04, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
- Removed per no objection gppande (talk) 16:05, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
Notable Institutions: This section should be merged with other sections of the page like demographics, Civic administration (this section needs to be added to page), history and sports(this section needs to be added to page).
Places of Interest: Tourism should be the right section heading with some major makeover needed as per Mumbai page. (talk)
- I have removed the section places of interest and merged some of its text with previous section. Also renamed it Civic administration as per wiki policy. gppande «talk» 14:00, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
Image gallery to be deleted.
Nagpur page has grown in size continuously over the period of past 1 month. I have been mostly contributing be removed as no other FAs like Mumbai and Chennai have it. As we need to raise the class of this article to FA this section needs to go. Please vote. gppande (talk) 15:07, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
Incorrect Population figures
The 3 million plus population for Nagpur city was an estimate which needs a citation. I have replaced it with 2.1 million from the 2001 census. Also, the urban population of VIDARBHA is 3 million plus, not of Nagpur urban area. Sanjay Shil's house in nagpur is a heaven. Common citizens can have free lunch and dinner at this place. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 220.225.230.66 (talk) 08:51, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
Vidarbha has a population of 10 million plus. Nagpur district (City + adjoining urban/rural blocks has a population of 3 million plus. I cannot pinpoint the actual urban population of Vidarbha, but together with other smaller ubran centers like Wardha, Amravati, Akola etc., I guess, it should be around 4 million.
Nagpur location on map...
This has been annoying me for quite some time - the location of Nagpur as depicted in the map is inaccurate - it seems this is a reflection of a slightly inaccurate India map template. It depicts Nagpur as being on the north central border of Maharashtra, which is incorrect - the actual location is slightly Southeast of what is depicted in the map. I'm not sure if there can really be anything done about this - one option would be to change the coordinates slightly so the location appears geographically correct, even if the coordinates no longer are - or the option is the try to get the map changed so Nagpur would show up in the correct location. --No1cub17 (talk) 18:53, 18 July 2008 (UTC)

highest temperatures recorded during summer
the highest temperatures recorded during summers, especially during the month of May, have wrongly been quoted as about 40 degree celsius. in fact, during mid and late May, the temperature zooms past the 45 degree mark very often. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 114.143.70.78 (talk) 08:55, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
No mention of Oranges in the Economy section?
Its strange that the word Orange is missing from the Economy section. Orange industry (if it can be called as industry) does play a significant role in the Nagpur economy for a long time now and its sad to see that its no where mentioned in the Economy section. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bmayuresh (talk • contribs) 21:08, 19 October 2009 (UTC)
My changes
Hi,
I've made a number of changes to the article, mostly moving images, correcting grammar, and deleting unnecessary and repetitive info. A major change was that I deleted names of some educational institutions, as I though there were too many names and not much info. My request is that PLEASE FOLLOW PROPER GRAMMAR WHEN EDITING OR ADDING NEW INFORMATION. Common mistakes included missing articles (a and the) and commas.
What about localities in the city?
The article needs some information on the major localities in the city such as Ramdaspeth, Sitabuldi, Mahal, Civil Lines, Dharampeth, etc.
- Anjan, please follow the talk page and editing guidelines while posting and editing the contents on wiki. The new topic on talk-page has to go after the existing last topic. You can start your new topic by clicking the "new section" from the above toolbar.
Also, I'll try to get some info about the said places and put them on wiki. In the mean time, could you please look into the Vidarbha wiki page too, as it is also lacking a lot of information and needs a solid support from the wikipedians like you. Thanks.

Unneeded info
Removing info about Nagpur being the only city to lose its status as a capital city over the past 100 years. There is already plenty of info in the Introduction section so I don't think that we need to add another piece of miscellaneous info in there.
History Section Needs Editing
The info in the middle (the huge paragraph) needs to be summarized, and it also has too many opinionated statements. Whoever wrote it should take up this task.
Orphaned references in Nagpur
I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Nagpur's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT⚡ 22:06, 11 July 2012 (UTC)
