Bias

This article is very pro-Chase. It makes no mention of the argument that this type of forced competition is artificial, and unfair on drivers who dominate the first 2/3 of the season. It also gives an advantage to multiple-driver teams, who can use a car which is not in the Chase to manipulate the results in favour of its other cars. Wasn't there even a threatened boycott of the final races in 2004, by teams with no drivers in the Chase?--MartinUK (talk) 09:13, 23 August 2008 (UTC)

I think this should include a link to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007_Chase_for_the_NEXTEL_Cup (and previous years), or perhaps some of the info should be combined.

I don't understand what is being said here as teams in football and baseball *do* get the advantage through home field advantage in the playoffs, up until the Super Bowl or World Series anyway. Alex 12:22, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

Chase for the Cup despite Total Dominance?

Would there be any point to Chase for the Cup if one driver is leading the points table pre-chase, but also wins the most races, grabs most podiums and top 5 finishes? —Preceding unsigned comment added by TimHowardII (talk • contribs) 09:19, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

The Chase would still happen, and that dominant driver would most likely keep on dominating. But maybe he wouldn't. That's why they have the races. 75.76.213.106 (talk) 01:53, 22 August 2010 (UTC)

Comparisons of formats of the Chase

I think the whole section titled "Comparisons of formats of the Chase" should be deleted. It is all speculation, under the changed rules the teams would have had different strategies, we see that now with the changes from 2013 to 2014. It's just added trivial data taking up space. I definitely agree with this. It's OK to make general comparisons of the different systems but to list who would've won under old systems is just useless. The point is that they didn't win the championship in the system that mattered at the time. Intrepidusk (talk) 01:40, 8 September 2014 (UTC)

Article changes

Since the Chase was added for the each of the three national series, the article should be renamed (i.e. NASCAR Chase for the Championship or Chase for the Championship). The what-if statistics probably should removed or they will continue with the Xfinity Series and Camping World Truck Series. However, I'm pondering the idea of moving the article into NASCAR rules and regulations. Either way the article needs to be overhauled.
